New Tab Widgets v1.12 is packed with creative additions and refinements. Two brand-new widgets join the lineup — a Quotes widget that brings daily inspiration to your dashboard, and a Todo widget that keeps your tasks front and centre. Sticky Notes gain a full inline colour and font editor, the Spotify widget now adapts its layout to any widget size, and freeform layout placement gets a lot smarter.

On the Pro side, the IFrame widget gains custom CSS injection, the Link Group widget gets new compact grid display modes, the Search widget can remember your last provider, and the Calendar widget now lets you create Google Calendar events without leaving your new tab.

💬 Quotes Widget

Bring a daily dose of inspiration, wisdom, or humour to your new tab with the Quotes widget. Each time the widget shows a new quote, it picks randomly from a curated collection of hundreds of well-known sayings.

Features

  • Displays a random quote from a built-in library of curated sayings
  • Optional author attribution — toggle the author name on or off
  • Flexible refresh schedule — choose how often the quote changes: every new tab open, hourly, every 3 hours, every 6 hours, every 12 hours, or once a day
  • Persistent quote memory — the same quote is shown across new tab opens within the selected interval, even after closing the browser
  • Available to all users

✅ Todo / Reminders Widget

Stay on top of your day without leaving your new tab. The new Todo widget lets you manage a personal task list right on your dashboard.

Features

  • Add todos — type a task and press Enter (or Shift+Enter for multi-line) to add it instantly
  • Check off tasks — click the checkbox next to any item to mark it complete; completed items get a strikethrough
  • Inline editing — click on any todo text to edit it in place; press Enter to save or Escape to cancel
  • Delete todos — remove individual items with the trash icon that appears on hover
  • Drag to reorder — drag and drop todos into any order you like
  • Show/hide completed — toggle a counter in the header to show or hide completed todos
  • Optional widget title
  • Available to all users

🗒️ Sticky Note — Inline Colours and Fonts (Pro)

The Sticky Note widget now lets you style individual words and phrases directly in the editor, making it easy to highlight key points or add personality to your notes.

What's new

  • Text colour picker — select any text and apply a colour using a full colour picker (Pro)
  • Font family selector — apply a different typeface to selected text from a curated list of preset fonts (Pro)
  • Default font typeface — set a default font for the entire note from the widget settings (Pro)

🎵 Spotify — Responsive Portrait and Landscape Layouts

The Spotify widget now intelligently adapts its layout based on the widget's shape and size.

What's new

  • Portrait layout — tall or square widgets display the album art prominently with controls below
  • Landscape layout — wide widgets place the album art on the left with track info and controls on the right
  • Scaled UI — text sizes and control button sizes grow and shrink proportionally with the widget container, so the widget always looks polished at any size

🔍 Search Widget — Remember Last Provider

The Search widget can now remember which search provider you used last. When you return to a new tab, the widget automatically selects the same provider rather than defaulting back to the first option.

What's new

  • Remember last provider — opt in via widget settings to persist your provider choice across new tab opens
  • Dot shortcut — the default provider is automatically assigned the . shortcut when no other provider uses it, so you can quickly switch back with a single keystroke

🔗 Link Group Widget — New Grid Display Modes

The Link Group widget gains two new display modes for a more visual, compact bookmark experience.

Pro display modes

  • Grid (icons only) — compact favicon grid for quick visual scanning (Pro)
  • Grid with names — favicons paired with link names in a tidy card layout (Pro)
  • Free users retain the full-featured list layout; clear upgrade prompts appear in settings when a Pro display mode is selected

🖼️ IFrame Widget — Custom CSS (Pro)

The IFrame widget now supports custom CSS injection, letting you tweak the appearance of any embedded page without touching its source.

What's new

  • Custom CSS editor — write and apply CSS directly to the embedded iframe using a full-featured CodeMirror editor with syntax highlighting (Pro)

📅 Calendar Widget — Create Google Calendar Events (Pro)

The Calendar widget now lets you create Google Calendar events without leaving your new tab.

What's new

  • Create events — open a built-in event creation form directly from the widget
  • Date and time picker — set a start date and time using a familiar calendar and 12-hour AM/PM time inputs

Other improvements in v1.12

  • Widget freeform layout — new widgets and duplicated widgets are now placed in the nearest free space rather than stacking on top of each other; duplicated widgets appear directly beside their source
  • Freeform Widget hover z-index — widgets raise their z-index on hover to ensure they appear above adjacent widgets when overlapping

Upgrade now

The Quotes widget and Todo widget are free for all users. Pro unlocks Sticky Note inline colours, fonts, and default typeface; responsive Spotify layouts; Link Group grid display modes; IFrame custom CSS injection; and Google Calendar event creation from the Calendar widget.
