Privacy Policy for New Tab Widgets
Effective Date: 19th March 2026
At New Tab Widgets ("we," "us," or "our"), we are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information when you use our browser extension ("Extension"). It also describes your rights regarding your data and how to exercise them.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information:
Personal Information: We do not collect any personal information (such as name, email address, or payment details) unless you explicitly provide it to us (e.g., through feedback or support requests).
Non-Personal Information: We may automatically collect non-identifiable information about your use of the Extension, such as browser type, operating system, and usage data (e.g., pages viewed, clicks, and other actions within the Extension). This data is anonymized and used to improve the Extension's performance.
Google User Data: When you enable widgets that connect to Google services (e.g., Google Calendar, Gmail), the Extension may access data from those services through Google's OAuth 2.0 authentication. The specific types of data accessed depend on which widgets you enable and the permissions you grant. See Section 4 for full details.
2. How We Use Your Information
The information we collect is used to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Extension.
- Analyze usage patterns to better understand how the Extension is used.
- Respond to your inquiries and provide support when requested.
- Notify you about updates, new features, or changes to the Extension.
We will not use your data for any purposes not disclosed in this Privacy Policy. If we need to use your data for a new purpose, we will update this policy and obtain your consent before doing so.
3. Third-Party Services
We may integrate third-party services into the Extension (e.g., analytics providers) to help us understand how the Extension is used. These third-party providers may have access to non-personal information collected by the Extension and are subject to their own privacy policies.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
4. Google User Data
Certain widgets within the Extension may request access to Google services (e.g., Google Calendar, Gmail) through Google's OAuth 2.0 authentication. This section describes how we handle all data received from Google APIs.
4.1 Data Accessed
The Extension may access the following types of Google User Data, depending on the widgets you enable:
- Google Calendar data: Calendar events, event details, and calendar metadata, used to display your upcoming events in the calendar widget.
- Gmail data: Email metadata (such as sender, subject, and date), used to display recent emails in the email widget.
4.2 Data Storage
All Google User Data is stored locally on your device only. We do not transmit, store, or process any Google User Data on our servers. Google User Data is cached locally in your browser solely to provide widget functionality and is not persisted beyond what is necessary for the Extension to function.
4.3 Data Use
Google User Data is used exclusively within the Extension on your device to display the widget functionality you have enabled. We limit our use of Google User Data to providing and improving user-facing features that are prominent in the Extension's user interface.
4.4 Data Sharing
We do not transfer Google User Data to any third party, except:
- When necessary for security purposes (e.g., investigating abuse).
- To comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, but only with your explicit prior consent.
We do not transfer, sell, or use Google User Data for serving advertisements, for data broker purposes, or for any purpose unrelated to the Extension's user-facing functionality.
4.5 Human Access to Data
No humans (including our employees and contractors) will read your Google User Data, unless:
- You have given us your affirmative agreement to view specific data.
- It is necessary for security purposes (e.g., investigating a bug or abuse).
- It is required to comply with applicable law.
- The data is aggregated and anonymized and used for internal operations in accordance with applicable privacy and data protection laws.
4.6 Data Retention and Deletion
Google User Data is cached locally on your device only for as long as needed to provide widget functionality. You can delete all locally stored Google User Data at any time by:
- Disabling the relevant Google-connected widgets in the Extension.
- Uninstalling the Extension from your browser.
- Clearing your browser's local storage data.
4.7 Revoking Access
You can revoke the Extension's access to your Google account at any time through your Google Account permissions. Once access is revoked, the Extension will no longer be able to retrieve new data from Google services, and any locally cached data will no longer be refreshed.
4.8 Limited Use Disclosure
New Tab Widgets' use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
5. Data Security
We take data security seriously. We implement reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Cookies

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top.
