New Tab Widgets v1.1 – Google Maps, Iframe Widgets and Cloud Sync

New Tab Widgets v1.1 adds a Google Maps embed widget, significantly improves the Iframe widget's website compatibility, and introduces notification-based cloud sync for Pro users.

New Tab Widgets v1.1 is the first major update following the stable v1.0 launch. It expands the collection of embedded app widgets, makes Iframe widgets work with far more websites, and ships a reliable cloud sync system for Pro users.

🗺️ Google Maps Widget

Embed Google Maps directly on your dashboard with the new Google Maps widget. Whether you use it to monitor live traffic on your commute, keep your office address one click away, or track a route you navigate regularly, the Google Maps widget puts your most important map right where you'll see it.

🌐 Improved Iframe Widget

The Iframe widget now works reliably with many more websites that previously blocked embedding. This release adds:

  • Broader site compatibility — many sites that previously refused to load inside an iframe now work correctly
  • Prevent body scroll option — a new setting that stops the parent page from scrolling when scrolling inside an embedded site
  • Loading state improvements — better visual feedback while an iframe is loading

This makes the Iframe widget usable with tools like Notion, Linear, Figma, and many other productivity apps.

☁️ Cloud Sync Notifications (Pro)

Pro users can now sync their dashboard layout to the cloud. v1.1 adds toast notifications when syncing completes or encounters an error, so you always know the current sync status without guessing.

Other improvements in v1.1

  • Responsive widget styles — weather, world clock, and other widgets now adapt their layout more gracefully when resized to small dimensions
  • Service worker improvements — the extension's service worker now opens a new tab on the toolbar icon click, and rule cleanup runs on startup
  • Google Calendar widget — improved date handling and visual refinements
  • Trial pages limit — increased from 2 to 3 pages on the free trial
  • Middle-click to dismiss — clicking the scroll wheel on notification toasts now closes them
  • React Router 7 — upgraded to the latest React Router for improved code splitting and route handling on the marketing site
